Radio Northern Europe International is the shortwave show playing the best new pop, dance and traditional music from Norway 🇳🇴 , the UK 🇬🇧 , Ireland 🇮🇪 , Denmark 🇩🇰 , Sweden 🇸🇪 , Finland 🇫🇮 and Iceland 🇮🇸 to the world!

RNEI shows are a 30 minute journey through a blend of lesser known new music from Northern Europe in varying languages and styles coupled with an embedded digital-mode playlist and a small amount of talk to keep everything flowing nicely. RNEI xtra gives listeners the opportunity to hear shows from other fantastic presenters for our broadcasts that are 1 hour long.

We release a new show on the first Sunday of every month at 11:00UTC on 6070KHz shortwave for Central Europe and it is re-broadcast many times throughout the month on various frequencies from many different transmitters across the world. You can see all the ways to listen to us by clicking here (We even have Spotify playlists)!

It's always nice reading the reactions to our broadcasts, we've received really helpful and wonderful feedback from listeners.

Here's another collage where someone could think, "what the hell is that?"

These are the "digital extras" in the form of playlists and files transmitted via the shortwave. The people involved in this show have a very high level of IT and audio experience. Even the decoding program for HAM DRM has been greatly improved. The HTML sent with it consists of a minimum of text and uses animated vector graphics for the design. This time the elegant pattern is based on the Bézier curves.
Small mathematical formulas saved hundreds of kB of pixel information. Data rates must be used sparingly on transmission paths via shortwave.

Hei alle sammen,
There's going to be some big changes to our broadcast schedule starting this December and our Annual Report for 2021 full of insider statistics is being published. And we will be bringing you some amazing Christmas songs too! Firstly our Annual Report has now been published here. This report contains details about the music we play, the running costs of RNEI and how we are making our decisions. If you want to help support us we have a Patreon here
We'd also love it if you could email us what your favourite song from 2021 was for the January "best of 2021" special! Now on to the fun stuff, RNEI #24 is our December & Christmas show in one! It will feature:
    Fun Christmas music from Norway
Punchy Swedish Pop from Petra Marklund
    Silent Night but it's ABREU
Lea Heart helps it feel like Christmas
Julia-Maria, a small artist from Ireland, brings us a beautiful song
Órla Fallon brings us multilingual traditional Irish Christmas song
Our song of the month from a Danish newcomer, chosen by Karl from scandipop.co.uk
Daði Freyr gives us something magical this Christmas
Boyzvoice is back and this time they're dancy complete with the MFSK64 playlist embedded inside!
On WRMI or On-Demand you'll also hear:
        Mamma's Mest Metal (Christmas Special)
Stephen's Feature on the English singer/songwriter/guitarist John Bramwell
Daz's EasyDRF Playlist (Decoder here – Not on-demand)
    On Channel 292:
You will hear a fantastic episode of This is an Express Music Show
You'll also have a chance to receive Daz's EasyDRF Playlist (Decoder here) just before TIAEMS starts
We have a bonus broadcast from Channel 292 this month that is aimed at 332° targeting Northern Europe between Ireland and Finland and Southern Europe between Ukraine and Italy. This happens because there is some backbeam with these directional antennas so give them a go and see what happens!
If you miss the show you can always catch up on demand and, if you prefer to only hear our music, we have Spotify Playlists of each show usually published shortly after the first broadcast of the show!
We really hope you enjoy the show and look forward to receiving your feedback,
God jul alle sammen! Roseanna

[WOR] RNEI is doing another a stereo test idea
Hei,
Rose from RNEI here, On top of our usual Comb Stereo system we've used for years now (Stereo over a normal mono SW transmitter; it's pretty decent and accurate for a mono signal) we are testing something on Channel 292 because TIAEMS didn't come this month. We are sending L channel followed by R channel after the EasyDRM data section. This allows someone the ability to combine both parts together to hear L and R with full seperation. The first results from 6070 seemed pretty good (albeit very impractical) and we are planning to do one more test, L then R, on our 9670kHz broadcast on the 15th at 12UTC.

I thought some of you might be interested in playing around with the test :)

A clip from RNEI program 17 on WRMI, received in the USA using a KiwiSDR, and decoded using the latest v7g12 decoder and stereo processor.

It's some of the best sounding shortwave radio you will hear.

Playlists updated, Taiwan TX Broadcast of RNEI
WOR Posted by By RNEI Tuesday the 17th of January, 2023
Hei alle,
We've some exciting things to announce!
Firstly the playlists on rnei.org have been updated and reorganised. The page was getting so long the HTML ended up well over 100 000 characters!
Secondly, RNEIxtra will be going out on the 2nd of February 2023 featuring some of my favourite lesser known Japanese music from the past few years (full announcement to come, we might book 292 for it too!)

Lastly, We're working with Channel 292 to look into booking a transmitter in Taiwan for 1 hour maybe 2 or 3 times a year for airing 2 back to back shows of RNEI! This will be aimed to get South Korea and Japan
and should acheive great results! If you have any opinions on this please get in touch, we'd love to know if you have frequency suggestions etc..!

I'll keep you all up to date in the comming weeks on dates and times for future broadcasts,
til vi møtes igjen,
Rose
